When I started my own skincare brand in 2015 while working in corporate risk and compliance, I quickly realised there’s more to building a brand than great products – you need to navigate the regulations and make strategic, confident decisions in grey areas.
Watching other founders face similar struggles – while relying on Google, Facebook groups and guesswork – I realised I could help. I founded Skincare Business Foundations in 2018 to combine regulatory expertise with practical business strategy.
Since then, I’ve worked with hundreds of beauty brands and founders – from early-stage startups to established brands stocked at major retailers like MECCA, Sephora, Myer and Priceline, plus corporate teams and retailers navigating claims, risk and transparency at scale.
I help brands become credible, not just tick boxes, because compliance is the baseline – credibility is what builds customer trust.
I specialise in grey areas like the cosmetic-therapeutic boundary and product classification, explaining what’s safe, what’s risky and what sits in between, so you can make informed decisions, not just follow what other brands do.
With degrees in Business and Arts (Psychology), 13 years of corporate risk and compliance experience, specialist compliance qualifications and over a decade in the beauty industry, I bring a pragmatic, real-world lens to regulatory advice. I’m an active member of Accord Australasia and the Australian Society of Cosmetic Chemists (ASCC), and I speak regularly at industry events including Beauty Expo Australia and the ASCC Annual Conference.
Beyond consulting and corporate training, my 12-week program, Label Launchpad, helps Australian skincare founders build their brand the right way, the first time.
